Here’s how I got into architecture,
then product design, and UX/UI design.
I was born in Shenzhen, China, at the dawn of the ’90s — a decade of transformation for my city.
As I grew up, the city grew with me.
Construction sites began to dot the landscape. High-rises, freeways, parks, schools, and hospitals bloomed like spring flowers. What had once been a sleepy fishing village had quickly exploded into one of the largest cities in the world.
Living in Shenzhen, with its ever-changing skyline, inspired me to study architecture at UC Berkeley as an undergraduate.
In 2014, between semesters at Berkeley, I paid a visit to my family in China. I saw up close how technology was ushering in a new era of prosperity and convenience for the people of my hometown. On that trip, my city inspired me anew, beckoning me down the path to pursue a career in product design and UX/UI design.
In my career in architecture, I have worked on projects that have changed the lives of people from some of the San Francisco Bay Area’s most vulnerable communities. With a career in product design and UX/UI design, I will continue to aspire to be a positive force in the world, by improving people’s lives through thoughtful and imaginative design.
