Players will walk through a maze in first-person view. During the process, they need to collect scattered artworks. When players get to the exit, they can guess which artist the artworks belong to. If they got it right, they will be teleported to a small museum to watch a short video to learn more about that artist.
Ideation
Kids nowadays are so easily distracted by all kinds of games surrounding them. Why not take advantage of the attraction games have to kids, and add some educational elements to the game so that kids can learn while playing. With that in mind, I came up with an idea to inspire kids by introducing those great artists to them in a maze game.
Process
01 Building Model
I started the maze and museum models in Rhino. The maze size is not very big given that kids have a short attention span. Artworks are placed into the maze not only as hints to indicate who the artist is, but also as a guide to lead players out.
02 Design Interaction
Finding Hints
Players will walk around in the maze in first-person view. When they see a floating artwork, they need to get closer and take a good look at it before colliding with it. After the artworks are collected, a cheering sound will be played with a particle effect to let players know they have collected that artwork.
Reward
After players get out of the maze, they have to guess who is the artist based on the artworks they have seen in the maze, then walk into the teleport portal under the correct artist’s figure box to be teleported to a small museum.
Short Video
After players are teleported to the museum, they can easily see a screen at the end of it. When they get close to the screen, the short introduction video about the artist will play.
